Jodhpur marks its origin back to the year of 1459 AD. The history of this prosperous city revolves around the Rathore clan. Rao Jodha, the chief of Rathore Clan is credited with the origin of Jodhpur in India. The city is known to be built in place of the ancient capital, Mandore of the state of Manwar. Hence, the people of Jodhpur and surrounding areas are commonly known as Marwaris. Also, it is believed that the relics of Mandore can still be witnessed in the Mandore Gardens.
The personalized tour starts with a pick up from your hotel. Then, you will be driven towards the Jaswant Thada, a 19th-century royal cenotaph, carved out of thin marble sheets which emit a warm glow when illuminated by the sun. Witness the beauty of the precincts including the spectacular garden, a small lake and three other cenotaphs.
Afterwards, you will be escorted towards the Mehrangarh Fort, the landmark of Jodhpur and also a popular historical attraction. Explore the 15th century fort with several palaces featuring expansive courtyards, a museum, various galleries and the Chamunda Mataji Temple. En-route catch a glimpse of the Clock Tower, locally known as Ghanta Ghar. Built intricately, the century old building is surrounded by the bustling Sardar Market, with triple gateways at its northern and southern ends. In the afternoon, have lunch at a nearby restaurant and then proceed towards the final stoppage of the tour, the Umaid Bhawan Palace - an exemplar of the Beaux Arts style, perfectly fused with the eastern and western architectural styles. Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, the edifice is classed into three parts - the Royal Residence, the Luxury Taj Palace Hotel, and the museum dedicated to the 20th century history of the Royal Family of Jodhpur.
